Romeo & Juliet
The classic Shakespearean romantic tragedy "Romeo & Juliet" never ceases to get old.
Fans adore the timeless love story between a young boy and girl falling instantly in love despite their family's being arch rivals. Over the years there have been so many adaptations presented. The inspiration for this particular project was the 1996 movie version of Romeo & Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. This modern adaptation has Romeo Montague crashing a costume ball, held by the family of Juliet Capulet, who is dressed as an angel. Romeo lays eyes on Juliet as she dances and proclaims "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight, For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." The two meet and fall instantly in love.
Every so often, a bunch of local photographers get together in the area for a styled "shoot out". A theme is initiated, then the creativity begins. The models, the location and the props are put into play. The coordinator of the shoot out was Lauren Hill of Lauren Hill Photography here in the Hampton Roads area. The location she chose was the perfect romantic setting at the Anderson-Wright Rooms & Gardens in Portsmouth, Virginia. Lauren is very creative and organized the items used for the props. Some of you are wondering "What's with Romeo in the Hawaiian shirt"? If you have seen the movie it will make sense! Hannah was perfect as our model, who captured the youthful spirit of a young love struck Juliet. Kudos go out to Christian stepping in to play Romeo last minute. They both did a great job!
After the shoot, its always interesting to see the other photographers posting their interpretations of the images they captured. Below are a few images telling my interpretation.
Hope you enjoy!
